Explore Perth and the Sunset Coast

Scarborough Beach has been named by many travel magazines as one of the world’s best beaches.

Beach House Perth has panoramic views over Scarborough Beach, down to Fremantle, across to Rottnest Island and up to Trigg Beach. The Beach House itself is a feast for the senses, from the stylish furnishings to your big balcony looking across pure white sand and the brilliant blue Indian Ocean.

A visit to this delightful beach, just 15 minutes west of Perth city, will reveal stunning white sand and blue water. The iconic Cottesloe Beach is only 15 minutes south of Scarborough but doesn’t have the same beachy atmosphere that Scarborough has.

Take a ferry to Rottnest Island, which you can see clearly from Beach House Perth. Ferries depart from nearby Fremantle to the south or Hillarys to the north for the short trip to this West Australian holiday paradise. No cars are allowed on the island, so it’s wonderful to walk from the Thomson Bay settlement with its good beach cafes to any of the stunning beaches nearby, including The Basin and Longreach. Or take a selfie with the local island quokkas, like many international celebrities have done.

If you want to dine out at Scarborough Beach, try The Sandbar or La Cappannina, both on the beach, or La Vela only 400 metres up Scarborough Beach Rd.

It’s certainly worth a visit to Fremantle, the famous old port only 25 minutes south of Beach House Perth, built by convicts. It’s a vibrant, happening place with great seafood to be found at casual cafes like the Capri or the Fishing Boat Harbour at Kailis or Cicerello’s.

Café Looking to Sea

For quality dining in Fremantle, try Emily Taylor, Bread in Common or the Old Synagogue built in 1902, which harbours good restaurants Arbor and Tonic & Ginger.

Closer to Scarborough, one of the more expensive restaurants is Gibney’s at Cottesloe.

I need a coffee!: Scarborough takes its coffee seriously – try the Porch Café, Little Seaview Café and Esperanca Café.

Scarborough Beach is a laid-back beach that has good surf, just like its northern neighbour Trigg Beach. Go to the grassy Sunset Hill at Scarborough Beach for an elevated view of the beach and surfers in action on wavy days.

If you want completely calm water, go to Scarborough’s Olympic-size swimming pool right next to the surf club with great ocean views as you swim with cafés nearby.

Major Shopping Centre Nearby

Karrinyup Shopping Centre is only 8 minutes drive from Scarborough, with frequent public transport taking you right there. This shopping centre is huge and you can spend hours wandering around finding just about anything.
Scarborough Beach Shopping Centre is only 7 minutes walk from Beach House Perth, right next to the many restaurants, bars and shops at Scarborough’s beautiful beach.
Or take a bus up Scarborough Beach Rd to Glendalough train station to link up with the frequent train services into Perth City. Trains from Glendalough to Perth central station are only 10 minutes, and pass through Subiaco, another vibrant shopping and dining area..

Margaret River Wine Region

A visit to the award-winning Margaret River wine region 2 ½ hours south of Perth will reveal more beautiful beaches and coastline. The Margaret River wine route down Caves Rd from Dunsborough is full of award-winning wineries and restaurants.
